Goods do not always arrive when the space or destination is ready. A delayed delivery appointment, a stock increase or a temporary change in premises can leave a business needing somewhere for pallets to wait.
Short-term storage is worth discussing when that gap has a workable arrival and release plan. “Short term” does not establish a universal minimum stay, rate or access arrangement; those details belong in the provider’s proposal.
Describe the gap you need to cover
Explain why the goods need space and what event will end the stay. A scheduled reopening, a recipient’s delivery appointment and an uncertain stock-clearance date create different planning needs.
- Overflow stock: reserve pallets arrive before your usual space is available.
- A delivery gap: the onward destination cannot accept the goods yet.
- Temporary premises changes: part of your working space is unavailable for a period.
These are illustrative situations, not guarantees that every request can be accommodated. The product, space, dates and handling need to be reviewed.
Send the details that shape the stay
Provide pallet count, loaded dimensions, weight and a goods description. Include the expected arrival date and likely release date, and identify any special storage conditions or restrictions. Say whether all pallets will leave together or in several collections.
If the release date is uncertain, give your best current estimate and explain what could change it. A realistic range is more useful than a fixed date that depends on an unresolved delivery appointment.
Check receiving and release, not only the space
Ask what is included when the pallets arrive and when they leave. Clarify the counting level, any labeling requirements, the notice needed for release and the collection arrangements. Extra sorting or partial-pallet work should be discussed rather than assumed.
Review the receiving and handling and pallet release requirements together. A short stay can still involve several distinct handling steps.
Plan for an extension
Before committing, ask how to request additional time, when to give notice and whether availability must be reconfirmed. Clarify the billing period and how a changed release date would affect the proposal.
For example, a delayed onward appointment could turn an expected one-week gap into a longer stay. Having an agreed contact and change process makes that conversation clearer; it does not automatically reserve extra time or space.
Keep a simple stay record
- The confirmed goods and quantities.
- Arrival and release references.
- The agreed duration and scope.
- The contact authorized to approve changes.
- The latest collection plan.
Use these details when requesting pallet storage availability. The form begins an inquiry; acceptance, space, pricing and delivery arrangements must be confirmed before goods are sent.
